Five schools in St. Elizabeth have benefited from 60 refurbished computers and audiovisual equipment, which were sourced through the efforts of the Bull Savannah Past Students Association (BSPSA).

The beneficiary institutions were Hampton High, Munro College, Ballards Valley Primary, Top Hill Primary and Bull Savannah Primary.

President of the BSPSA, Dr. Pearl Dunkley, who handed over the equipment to the schools at a ceremony held recently on the grounds of Bull Savannah Primary, told JIS News that since the association started some six years ago, the membership had raised in excess of $3.3 million to assist their alma mater.

"Some of the funds were used to build and equip a computer laboratory and library (and) we published a history of the school. Today, we are handing over Compaq computers, monitors and peripherals," she informed.

Dr. Dunkley said that the computers are all Pentium 3 and were refurbished by a United States-based company called BAE Systems at a cost of some $450,000.

She thanked the St. Ann Bauxite Company, which helped to ship the equipment.

Principal of Hampton High School, Heather Murray, who accepted 14 computers on behalf of her institution, had high praise for the efforts of
Dr. Dunkley and her team.

"We promise that we will do our best to use this equipment in the right and proper way. We also give an undertaking to look to the proper maintenance of the systems," she said.
