MEDIA

Jamaica has two national daily newspapers, The Daily Gleaner, and the Jamaica Observer. The Sunday Herald is also a national weekly newspaper. In addition, there is an afternoon tabloid - The Star which is published six days a week, except Sundays. There are several weekly and monthly publications, such as the Investor’s Choice, serving a variety of sectors and interests. Most of the major foreign newspapers and periodicals are also available.

There are several community newspapers published on a biweekly or fortnightly basis. These include the Western Mirror, The News, Twin City Sun and The North Coast Times.

The government is served by the Jamaica Information Service (JIS) which, through radio and television programmes, video recordings, advertisements, publications and news releases, disseminates information on government policies, programmes and activities.
