Education Minister Encourages Gsat Students To Remain Focussed During Exam
As some 54,189 students across the island prepare to sit the Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) tomorrow (March 27), Minister of Education, Youth and Culture, Maxine Henry-Wilson, has encouraged them to remain calm and focussed.
"You will have to recall what you have learnt over the last few years, and do the best that you can. Don't worry about the child next to you; just settle down and make sure that at the end of the day, you feel a sense of fulfilment," she said.
In an interview with JIS News today, the Minister urged parents not to make their children anxious or apprehensive. "Don't do anything extraordinary to your children tomorrow morning. Make sure they have a good night's rest and give them a good breakfast. Make sure you don't make them anxious. Just encourage them and give them a sense of being special," Mrs. Henry-Wilson said.
The Minister acknowledged the hard work of the teachers in preparing students for the examinations. "I know you have spent the past few years building those children. I am sure they will not let you down. So to everyone, this is a very important day to our children, let us encourage them and make sure that they do the very best that they can," Mrs. Henry-Wilson said.
