Bursaries for GSAT Students in North Clarendon
Thirty students from 11 Primary and All-age schools in North Clarendon who gained the highest marks from that region in the recent Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT), have been awarded bursaries from $5,000 to $10,000.

The bursaries were presented by Member of Parliament for the area, and Minister of Labour and Social Security, Horace Dalley, at a function held on August 21 at the Hotel Versalles in May Pen.
The top student, Taivia Johnson from Morgan's Forest Primary received $10,000, while the remaining students received $5,000 each.
In his address, Minister Dalley emphasized that education was one certain way of lifting persons out of poverty.
"One thing can help the poor to pass those who are rich and that is education.It can make a country and a community great. A sound education and proper training can achieve much in life," he said.
Students from Crooked River, Trout Hall, Brandon Hill, McNie, Mount Carmel, and Staceyville All-Age, and James Hill, Morgan's Forest, Kellits and Bunkers Hill Primary Schools, as well as Crofts Hill Primary and Junior High received bursaries.
This annual initiative has been taking place for more than 10 years.
