There is good news for last minute purchasers of tickets for the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2007, as a limited amount of semi-finals tickets have been put back into the public ticketing system.

With this development, persons, who were unable to get these tickets in the previous phases of the ticketing programme, will now be able to do so.

Commercial Manager at the Jamaica Local Organizing Committee (LOC), Roxanne Morris, told JIS News that the tickets became available after the ICC CWC 2007 fulfilled certain commercial obligations to sponsors.

"Some of the tickets were not taken up and were subsequently put back into the public system, so we do have some category one semi-final tickets available," she informed.

The Commercial Manager also noted that the purchase limit of tickets per person has been increased to 20 except for the semi-finals, which remain at four tickets per person.

Jamaica and St. Lucia will host the semi-final matches on April 24 and 25, respectively.

In the meantime, Mrs. Morris indicated that the final phase of the ticketing process got off to a rousing start on February 1, with scores of persons flocking the official ticket centre located downtown Kingston to make their purchases.

She said that she was extremely pleased with the response from the public and anticipated greater support as the start of the event drew near.

"So far, it has been quite exciting because ticket sales have been brisk. It really does show that we are really a last minute people and that we want to pay our money and leave with the ticket in our hands," she stated.

Mrs. Morris noted that buying tickets during the last ticketing phase had its advantages as persons could select where they wanted to be seated. "You cannot select the actual seat but you can say what stand and what block you want to be seated. Once the seats are available, you should get them," she pointed out.

Meanwhile, she informed that interest in Jamaica's Yellow Package was "heating up" with persons across the island indicating their intention to purchase tickets for matches. "I end up encouraging them to get them early to avoid disappointment," Mrs. Morris said.

For persons, who wish to obtain tickets, they may either go to the official ticket office at Shops 51 and 52 in the Kingston Mall, or book online at www.cricketworldcup.com. Persons, who have purchased tickets online may visit the ticket centre and get their tickets upon presenting their receipts.

Tickets can also be couriered across the island and abroad at an additional cost of US$30.

Under the Yellow Package, Jamaica will host four warm-up matches and the opening ceremony at the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium and six group stage and a semi-final match at Sabina Park.
