Prime Minister Bruce Golding for Caricom Inter-Sessional Conference in the Bahamas - March 7-8

Prime Minister Bruce Golding will lead a team of government officials to the 19th Inter-sessional meeting of The Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) scheduled for 7-8 March 2008, in Nassau, Bahamas.

The team will comprise Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Kenneth Baugh, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Karl Samuda, Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Finance, Senator Dwight Nelson and other senior government officials from these Ministries.

Prime Minister Golding will take the opportunity to present the government's position on the implementation of the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), developments related to the conduct of external trade negotiations and future external trade negotiations.

Under the EPA, Caribbean Forum countries (CARIFORUM) and the European Union, are expected to co-operate in promoting innovation, diversification, modernisation, development, product and process quality in business, creativity and design, particularly in micro, small and medium enterprises and exchanges between networks of design centres located in the Europe Community and the CARIFORUM states.

The Prime Minister returns to the island on Sunday, March 9. During his absence the Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon. Audley Shaw will be in charge of the government.
