Introduction
for the “China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation
Forum"
The
Chinese government, in the purpose of enhancing economic
and trade exchanges and cooperation with the Caribbean,
proposed the establishment of “China-Caribbean Economic
and Trade Cooperation Forum”. The proposal has gained
wide support from the Caribbean states.
“China-Caribbean
Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum” is a ministerial-level
conference that convenes every 3-4 years in China or a Caribbean
state. Embracing the enhancement of economic cooperation
and development as its theme, the Forum aims to promote
and deepen the economic exchanges and cooperation to realize
the common development between China and the Caribbean region.
Participants of the Forum include senior officials from
the Chinese and the Caribbean governments, functionaries
of the trade and investment promotion agencies, entrepreneurs,
and representatives from the competent regional organisations.

Chinese Side: The Chinese Preparatory Committee,
consisting of Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs, China Council for Promotion of International Trade
and seven other ministerial-level departments of China.
Jamaican Side: The Jamaican Preparatory
Committee headed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and
Foreign Trade, consisting of 11 ministerial-level departments
of Jamaica.
