Jamaica Festival Activities 2010
I Believe in Jamaica

Grand Gala

Celebrated on the 6th of August this momentous occasion contributes to the swelling of national pride and patriotism, as Jamaicans pause to reflect and celebrate the country’s independence. There are island wide activities to mark this historic occasion including the ‘Western Gala’. At the national level, this year’s Independence Day activities are: the Street Parade, Grand Gala, and Street Dance in Half Way Tree. In 2008 and 2009 there were Float Parades.

The Street Parade will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre and travel via Half Way Tree to the National Stadium where it will end. The Grand Gala will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the National Stadium, and be followed by a Street Dance in Half Way Tree.
